Gerbrand van Brussel

G.G. van Brussel INVESTMENTS was founded by Gerbrand van Brussel. With this company, he wants to reach a noble goal: not only financial returns, but also a positive impact on our planet.

Gerbrand van Brussel was born and raised in Suriname and later on, he moved to the Netherlands. However, as a descendant of the boeroes (‘farmers’), who left the Netherlands for Suriname in the 19th century in order to to set up an agricultural colony, he still feels strongly connected to the country and its beautiful nature.

The memories of the Amazon forest from his youth, are what drive Gerbrand to preserve and where possible restore the wealth of biodiversity the Amazon forest offers. If no action is taken, the Amazon forest will lose its unparalleled flora and fauna. This is a great loss for the generations to come.

As a board member of the Boeroe kon Makandra (“boeren voor elkaar”) Foundation, Gerbrand is committed to recording, publishing and making accessible information about the heritage and culture of the boeroes. It keeps alive the memory of the land of his ancestry. It also underscores Gerbrand’s need to work for cultural preservation in addition to protecting the biodiversity of the Amazon forest.

G.G. van Brussel INVESTMENTS invests in start-ups and scale-ups working for a better world. Conservation of the Amazon rainforest in Suriname has an important place in this. When G.G. van Brussel INVESTMENTS invests, it is important that the projects have serious impact and that the local population benefits.
